Package Design
My idea is to use small metal containers where the hearing aids will rest in to give the customer peace of mind that their hearing aids will be safe and sound; hearing aids can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars!
This mood board I'm focusing on the teen-adult audience. I want to have the package to be stylish but subtle. Colors will mainly be Black (leather).
For the children, I want the package to be colorful and playful, with some sort of animal face to give the children a welcoming approach.
I felt the original logo design is a bit too generic so I decided to redesign their logo. I kept the same typeface but added a background (sound waves) and highlighted the "ON" in Phonak to corporate the "Life is on" subtext.
I am designing packages for Phonak’s hearing aids, a new design on their logo, and will also design posters and brochures for their hearing aid products.
Phonak is one of the worlds biggest hearing aid manufacture and have the innovative force in hearing acoustics. With their creative solutions, they strive to overcome technological limitations
so that all people are able to hear, understand and fully enjoy life’s rich landscapes of sound.
The packaging will have a fun, modern, stylish appearance for it’s audience. Since hearing loss can be a traumatic experience, it is important for these hearing aids to have a welcoming approach. Clients for these products can be anywhere from infant to seniors with hearing loss to deafness.
My design approach will be in two categories: children and adults.
Some of the main competitors are Siemens, Starkey, and Unitron. They all have similar prices and features, but Phonak have a better high quality hearing aids with more advanced sound features. My designs will be different from competitors by my focus on the product relation to its clients (example: fun playful colors & animals on packaging for children). I will also bring attention to how stylish hearing aids can be, which would be welcoming feature for teenagers/adults.
Packaging for children will be colorful, big fonts, and cartoon animals. Packaging for the teen/adult group will be modern, stylish, with clean thin fonts (such as Avenir) with colors of black, white, gray and the use of leather (black & brown) to help give the package design an expensive stylized jewelry box. Main materials will be recycled paper/cardboard to produce hard cases. The metal cases will also be recycled materials.
